Aspen firm plans Mexico condo project from BizJournals.com

Bald Mountain Development LLC of Aspen plans to break ground in the next few weeks on a $250 million hotel/condo project in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The Colorado developer, through its Bald Mountain de Mexico SRL subsidiary in San Miguel, contracted with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts of Dallas in late 2007 to operate the project. Bald Mountain is following in the footsteps of other U.S. developers going to Mexico, catering to wealthy second-home buyers, retired baby boomers and others who want to live and travel south of the border because their currency goes further there. Americans and Canadians invested $1.6 billion in Mexican real estate in 2006 alone, according to AskGringoRealtors.com in Puerto Vallarta. San Miguel de Allende is in central Mexico, about 180 miles northwest of Mexico City.
